In France, a hunting or shooting license is required to purchase a firearm. In September 2015, firearms were divided into four categories, which determine the rules for their possession and use. [341] Class C firearms can be purchased with a hunting licence or a sport shooting licence with a medical certificate. Category C consists mainly of single-shot-per-barrel shotguns and single-shot or repeating rifles (including centre-firing rifles, hunting or target shooting). Once legally acquired, these category C weapons can be stored without being used, even if they are no longer authorized for hunting or sport shooting. Under the 2010 Arms Control Act, Somaliland residents are allowed to possess firearms for the purpose of defending their lives and property. The law establishes that AK pistols and automatic rifles are allowed, and also mentions that others may be allowed. Only one weapon of each type may be registered. Possession of more than one weapon of each type must be justified and is granted only to legal persons. Persons over the age of 18 with no criminal history are allowed to register a weapon. The licence must be renewed annually. Citizens and residents can and can register firearms.
The sale of firearms is restricted to state dealers and licensed dealers. Weapons of war such as mortars, bombs, chemical weapons and oppressors are prohibited. The open carrying of firearms is prohibited. [Bill 94] The import of firearms is currently not possible due to the UN embargo. Botswana law only allows the possession of shotguns and rifles. The government has limited the number of licenses issued each year – only 50 people can get them, regardless of the number of applications, meaning the acceptance rate is usually less than 1%. [151] Firearms laws in Australia are the responsibility of state governments, with the importation of weapons regulated by the federal government. Firearms laws were largely harmonized by the National Firearms Agreement in 1996. In two state-funded gun buybacks and voluntary surrenders, as well as gun amnesties by state governments before and after the Port Arthur massacre, more than a million guns were collected and destroyed, perhaps a third of the national stockpile.
[384] Most people with a handgun licence are authorized to load, conceal or carry them openly in public. [241] To bring your weapons, you must apply to the Department of Public Safety and declare them upon arrival at the customs office, which will keep them until the registration process. You can buy firearms at a licensed firearms store or from individuals. Gun owners in Costa Rica must have a clean criminal record and pass a psychological examination. [188] The law allows firearms to be carried during hunting, with 10,544 licences on land and 247 at sea. [81] Carrying loaded firearms outside hunting grounds or shooting ranges is illegal. Automatic weapons are only allowed if they were manufactured before 1946. Liberia`s 2015 Firearms and Ammunition Control Act regulates the possession and use of small arms and light weapons in the country. The illegal possession of small arms and light weapons is a first-degree administrative offense and is punishable by up to one year`s imprisonment and confiscation of the illegally held weapon or ammunition.
Jamaica`s firearms laws are set out in the Firearms Act and regulated by the Firearms Licensing Authority. [195] Applicants must pass a police background check and go through a certification process to obtain a firearms licence for shotguns, handguns and rifles. Shotguns and rifles for hunting or sporting purposes are easier to obtain than handguns. Fully automatic weapons are prohibited. Handguns are limited to those below .45 caliber for revolvers or 10mm for pistols. The purchase of ammunition is limited to 250 rounds per year for shotguns and 50 rounds for handguns, with requests for additional ammunition generally accepted during the hunting season. A firearms safe is required to store all firearms and ammunition. [196] Once a licence is obtained, no additional licence is required to carry a firearm openly or secretly, unless the carrying of firearms has been temporarily prohibited under section 22 of the Act.
[197] Category A is divided into two subcategories “war materiel” and “restricted weapons”. “Munitions materiel” includes, for example, tanks, fully automatic weapons and armour-piercing weapons; “Restricted weapons” include weapons disguised as other items, firearms that can be dismantled more quickly than usual for hunting and sports, shotguns with a total length of less than 90 cm (35 inches) or a barrel length of less than 45 cm (18 inches), shotguns, silencers and firearms with silencers, American punches, blackjacks, steel rods.
